A 44-year-old Saskatoon man with ties to Ile-a-la-Crosse is facing charges of armed robbery and attempted murder following the standoff in the northern village this past weekend.

The suspects and a 20-year-old female companion eventually gave themselves up to the RCMP’s emergency response team after holing up in a house for several hours on Saturday.

The RCMP say those charges stem from an incident where shots were fired in a home early Saturday morning. That was before the two suspects left the home and then returned — prompting the occupants of the home to flee and notify police.

The female suspect faces robbery-related charges.

Both suspects will be making appearances in Buffalo Narrows Provincial Court tomorrow.
