Two traffic stops in the Southend area have resulted in large liquor and drug seizures.

The first occurred Friday, July 4th, when the RCMP stopped a vehicle at a check stop on Highway 102 — resulting in the seizure of a large quantity of liquor, as well as a firearm and 29 grams of hash.

A 27-year-old man from the community has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm while prohibited, and possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

The other incident occurred on Monday, July 7th, when RCMP found a large quantity of liquor, as well as a small amount of marijuana during a similar traffic stop.

A 17-year-old from Southend faces charges for possession of a controlled substance, and possession of alcohol as a minor.

Cst. Chatelle Egan with the Southend RCMP says that both seizures came during routine checkstops.
