A 16-year veteran of the Provincial Legislature has decided to stand for re-election.

First Nations and Metis Relations Minister Maynard Sonntag will officially announce his desire to run again in Meadow Lake on June 15th at a nomination meeting.

Sonntag says his government has done a lot for the people in the constituency, particularly in the areas of employment, population and economic opportunities.

He adds the opposition Saskatchewan party is offering no concrete ideas on how to improve the government’s record and that’s why the NDP is a better choice.

Sonntag adds his party has also worked hard to facilitate a new metis election in the province.

Sonntag was first elected to the Legislature in 1991.
