Sonntag Drops Challenge Of Election Results

The NDP has conceded the Meadow Lake seat in the legislature to the Saskatchewan Party’s Jeremy Harrison.

NDP candidate Maynard Sonntag called Harrison with the news yesterday after learning the results of a judicial recount held earlier in the week.

The official results of that recount haven’t been released.

But Sonntag says the recount only decreased Harrison’s margin of victory in last month’s election by one vote to 36.

As a result, Sonntag says he won’t be pursuing the matter any further.

Sonntag has been the MLA in Meadow Lake since 1991.

He says he’s looking forward to spend more time with his family, and is currently considering a number of job offers in the private sector.
