The Saskatchewan Native Theatre Company has received a cash injection from the provincial government for improvements to its home theatre in Saskatoon.
Premier Lorne Calvert yesterday announced over $834,000 in new funding for the Black Box Theatre in Saskatoon.
The money will be used to give the theatre a facelift — including new specialized lighting and technical equipment, a doubling of its seating capacity and increased accessibility for the public.
It is the only professional theatre in the country owned and operated by Aboriginal people.
