The Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies is holding its 2006 Convocation in Saskatoon today.

Over 190 SIIT students are receiving diplomas and certificates in their respective fields.

Courses offered at the school include management studies, First Nations child care and information technologies.

SIIT spokesman Randell Morris says the school is doing what it can to meet the very high demand for skilled tradespeople, and he feels First Nations young people could be embracing the trades even more.

Since its inception in 1976, SIIT has graduated over 9,000 students.

This afternoon’s convocation is taking place at TCU Place (formerly the Centennial Auditorium).
