Shoal Lake Cree Nation Holds Candidate Debate

A debate will be held on the Shoal Lake Cree nation today.
Beginning at 1:00 pm, Liberal candidate Gary Merasty and NDP candidate Anita Jackson will address each other and band members about their various positions on important issues in the North.
Shoal Lake chief Marcel Head says the band has traditionally held debates in an effort to educate his community about where the parties stand. He says the event should be of specific interest to the community’s youth.
Head says health, housing and education will likely be topics that candidates can expect to be questioned on.
Conservative candidate Jeremy Harrison has declined to participate in the event, due to previous commitments.
