A residential school survivor from the Gordon reserve was one of the first to speak at a hearing in Regina yesterday regarding a settlement package for victims.

A judge in Regina is presiding over a judicial review that has to be held in several provinces across the country in order for the proposed $1.9-billion settlement to be approved.

The unidentified victim told the court that the compensation he is slated to receive will only be enough to take care of his car loan.

The hearings will last well into the week, but Queen’s Bench Justice Dennis Ball has already said he will be reserving his decision.
