A Metis man who has been looking for diamonds in the Green Lake area is keeping a close eye on a securities fraud trial in the U.S.

Yesterday, arguments were heard in a Los Angeles court in the matter concerning CMKM Diamonds.

The company is accused of misleading investors about its diamond holdings in northern Saskatchewan, including the Fort a la Corne area.

Orban Laliberte says he was once in partnership with the company, but his enthusiasm cooled when the company tried to negotiate an end to his claims to potential kimberlite deposits near Green Lake.

Laliberte says he’s been in regular contact with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, which is eager for any information he might have that could be used against the company.

The judge hearing the case against CMKM Diamonds will make a decision by July 15th.
