Searchers Find Body Of Missing Canoeist

RCMP and volunteer searchers have found the body of the man that has been missing on Lac La Ronge.

The remains were discovered at 2:30 this afternoon in the area of Sanderson Point.

The man had been missing since Monday afternoon, when his canoe capsized on the lake.

Two others in the vessel made it to shore.

Earlier today, Lac La Ronge Indian Band Chief Tammy Cook-Searson made a public appeal for more volunteers with boats, because several searchers in roughly 10 boats had been on the water since Monday and were in need of a break.

The RCMP are not releasing the victim’s name until next of kin have been notified.
