Searchers Combing Lac La Ronge For Missing Paddler

An extensive search of Lac La Ronge is underway for a canoeist who went missing yesterday.

At around 1:00 yesterday afternoon, a canoe carrying three males capsized on the lake.

Two of the occupants made it to shore, but the other one didn’t.

Local search and rescue personnel and a plane were dispatched immediately to search for the missing person, who is said to be in his thirties.

RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Carole Raymond says, at this stage, they’re still holding out hope the man is still alive.

Raymond says a helicopter will be going up to aid in the search as soon as the weather in the area clears.
