Four overdue boaters on Wapawekka Lake southeast of La Ronge have been found safe and sound.

Three men aged 26, 40 and 50 and a 20-year-old woman, all from La Ronge, left a camp around midnight Sunday night to go to another camp.

They didn’t arrive as scheduled, and late yesterday morning, their boat was found washed up on the lake’s southeast shore.

According to the RCMP, there was bad weather on the lake at the time, with very high waves.

Search and Rescue and Civilian Air Search and Rescue were summoned to do a search of the lake from the air.

The four were found to be alright at around 9:00 last night, and are now at the camp they had been headed to.
