SCN Showcases Northern Artists and Landscapes

A new series on SCN that prominently features northern artists and landscapes made its official debut this afternoon in La Ronge.

The show is called “Landscape as Muse”, and will be shown on SCN at 8:00 Thursday evenings, beginning tonight.

A premiere reception was held at the Kikinahk Friendship Centre this afternoon and drew about 110 people.

Among other things, the reception featured the screening of an episode featuring painter-carver John Halkett at work near the Montreal River.

Director Ian Toews says the show explores how landscapes inspire artists.

He also says 10 of the 13 episodes were shot in northern Saskatchewan.
