Officials with Indian Affairs are expected to be in Birch Narrows today.

A sod-turning ceremony is scheduled to take place later this afternoon for a new school on the reserve.

The new facility will seat 340 kids, and will be used by students throughout the area.

Up till now, the band has struggled along with a cramped facility that is unable to accommodate a Grade 12 class.

The government first announced plans to build new schools at both Birch Narrows and Deschambault Lake back on May 3.
