A preliminary hearing will be held in September for a man charged with manslaughter in the New Year’s Day death of a Saulteaux reserve resident.

The hearing for 23-year-old Jared Gopher, also of the Saulteaux First Nation, will be held September 15th to 19th in North Battleford Provincial Court.

That decision was made after Gopher appeared in court yesterday.

Gopher is charged in connection with the death of Ronald Thomas.

Police found Thomas’ body after they were called to a home on the reserve on January 1st.

The purpose of a preliminary hearing is to determine if there is enough evidence to send a case to trial.
