SaskParty Makes All-Weather Road Commitment

Establishing an all-weather road network in the Far North is one of the Saskatchewan Party’s “100 new ideas” it announced earlier this week.
Residents in the region have been lobbying the province and Ottawa for years to construct several all-weather roads in the Far North to bring food costs down and spur economic development.
Saskatchewan Party leader Brad Wall says establishing the all-weather road network is a commitment his party is making if it forms the next government.
Wall is also critical of the NDP government’s refusal so far to fund 50 per cent of the construction costs of the estimated $50 million project.
A delegation of northern leaders met with Premier Lorne Calvert earlier this month to try to change his mind on that issue.
Calvert has promised he’ll get back to them by the end of the month.
