SaskParty Calls For Belanger’s Resignation

The Saskatchewan Party says Buckley Belanger is not fit to be this province’s Community Resources and Employment minister.
The call for Belanger’s resignation from cabinet comes after the provincial auditor’s report into a troubled safe house for children in the sex trade in Regina.
Opposition MLA June Draude is accusing Belanger of providing misleading answers to written questions asked by the Saskatchewan Party during the spring sitting of the legislature.
Draude says the answers provided by the northern MLA fly in the face of information contained in the auditor’s report.
Draude also says she has yet to hear Belanger apologize to the children who ended up running away from what was supposed to be a safe refuge.
She says Belanger needs to be replaced by someone who takes this issue seriously.
Belanger says he spoke truthfully according to the information he had at the time and acted accordingly.
He adds there’s no way he’s stepping down.
Belanger also says he should be the one asking for Draude’s resignation for using one of his remarks out of context in a press release.
