The body of a 17-year-old boy assaulted in Saskatoon over the weekend will be laid to rest in Beauval later this week.

Philip Albert Roy had ties to the northern community, but was living in Saskatoon when he received a serious head injury during an attack Friday evening.

The Saskatoon police say the assault became a homicide investigation when Roy died from his injuries in a Saskatoon hospital on Sunday.

The assault took place at around 11:00 Friday night in the north lane of the 2000 block of 22nd Street West.

At last word, no arrests had been made.

Saskatoon Police say anyone with information in this case should call the department’s Major Crimes Unit at 975-8241 or Saskatoon Crime Stoppers at 931-8477.
