An official with the Prince Albert tourism office says more and more people are taking trips to Northern Saskatchewan.
Debbie Honch says in 2003, at least 950,000 people travelled to the North and spent $160 million dollars.
Honch notes two-thirds of them stayed overnight during their trip.
Approximately 142,000 tourists were from other provinces, 23,000 were Americans, 4,000 came from overseas and the rest were from Saskatchewan.
The tourism office says 6,000 of the U.S. visitors came from two states alone — Michigan and Wisconsin.
The American tourists spent $47 million in the North that year.
Honch is confident those numbers will continue to be strong.
