Saskatchewan Treaty Education A Work In Progress

More Saskatchewan students are learning about the importance of treaties.

This is according to the Treaty Education Survey results released by the government yesterday.

The survey measured student knowledge and understanding of treaties.

The survey indicates most First Nations and northern Saskatchewan administrators have mandatory treaty education as part of their school’s education plan.

This is compared to less than half of the administrators in the central and southern regions of the province.

In 2008, the Office of the Treaty Commissioner published the treaty resource package.

Materials were distributed to all provincial and First Nations schools last year.
