An associate deputy minister with Saskatchewan Health confirms the ministry is slashing two jobs in La Ronge.

Gren Smith-Windsor says the ministry is closing its northern relations office.

He says the roles and responsibilities of those workers will be picked up by other staff.

“The services that were provided out of La Ronge will be provided out of the Regina office, with electronic and telephone communications and the like,” says Smith-Windsor.

Meantime, one of the workers who is being let go says he can’t help but think the move will reduce the amount of grassroots information making its way down to Regina.

Earl Cook says his last day on the job will be August 31.
