A relatively new Christmas tradition in Saskatchewan’s Far North will be taking place again this Sunday.

Transwest Air is flying Santa Clause to four Athabasca communities to deliver assorted presents to about 1,200 children in the region.

This is the fifth straight year the airline has organized this event, and spokeswoman Naomi Krahn says many Far North residents circle this date on their calendar weeks in advance.

Krahn also says while it’s a lot of work to put together, it’s worth the effort when organizers get to see the reaction of the children and the parents to Santa’s arrival.

Santa makes his first stop in Wollaston Lake at 11:15 Sunday morning.
