The third phase of emergency meetings begins today in Sandy Bay.

The community is taking steps to deal with the recent rash of suicides that has taken place there.

For the past few days, leaders from the town council, Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation and other agencies have discussed better ways of working together.

Sandy Bay mayor Ina Fietz-Ray says the groups have pledged to jump through jurisdictional hurdles wherever possible.

She says an action plan on how to deal with the problems is still being drawn up, but will be presented to government leaders this afternoon.

She adds the tone of the meetings so far has been cooperative and everyone is working together.
