A health authority in northern Saskatchewan says it wants a new board to run things at the Sandy Bay Outpatient Centre.

The Mamawetan Churchill River Regional Health Authority announced at a public meeting in Sandy Bay yesterday that it will not renew the contract of the current board on April 1st.

Health authority spokesman John Kreiser says there have been a number of accountability measures that haven’t been complied with by the current board.

Kreiser says Mamawetan Churchill River hopes to partner with residents in Sandy Bay to create an “energetic board that is committed to providing high quality addictions services”.

The health authority has set a February 15th deadline for a new board to be found within the community.

If that doesn’t happen, Mamawetan Churchill River says it will assume responsibility for the centre.
