A woman who lost her home in Sandy Bay is planning to pitch a tent there next week in a show of protest.

It was roughly a year-and-a-half ago that Bernice Dussion left the community to go to school in Creighton.

However, while she was gone, a government housing agency seized possession of her empty house and awarded it to someone else.

Dussion has written several letters to government officials protesting the decision.

She says she feels penalized for going to school and trying to make a better life for herself.

Dussion hopes to find work in Sandy Bay as a home care worker now that she has her diploma.

She has also applied for a house on-reserve.
