The victim in a shooting on the Montreal Lake Cree Nation over the weekend is recovering from what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The RCMP say the 22-year-old man was shot early Sunday morning.

The victim was apparently shot in the leg.

Spokesman Sgt. Brad Kaeding says a man from Sandy Bay has been arrested, and will likely be charged with aggravated assault.

Meanwhile, members of two Prince Albert-area reserves were also victims of assaults on New Year’s Eve.

One person on the Sturgeon Lake reserve and another individual at Muskoday were both taken to hospital in Prince Albert with minor injuries.

The authorities are investigating both incidents.
