While local police will continue to search, RCMP are saying that they believe the six-year-old boy reported missing in Sandy Bay has drowned.

The boy was last seen in front of his home on Saturday, and investigators are saying that the boy may have slipped into moving water near his residence.

RCMP Sgt. Carole Raymond says that there is sufficient evidence to indicate that the youth did enter the water, and after two days of searching, the underwater recovery team has left the scene, after turning up nothing.

“That decision is made by the team,” Raymond says, noting that once the divers feel that they have looked everywhere they can, they have to call off the search.

Police in the community will continue to look for leads in the community.
