A man looking to attend the recent snowmobile rally in Stanley Mission got more than he bargained for when he visited La Ronge this past weekend.

23-year-old Darren Joseph Shupe from Cudworth is appearing in court today after being charged in connection with a robbery in Wakaw that happened in early August.

Police say they were involved in a lengthy investigation involving multiple police forces.

Sgt. Roger Tournier with the Wakaw RCMP says the investigation came to a close after the man headed north for the weekend.

Tournier says the La Ronge RCMP were alerted about his presence in the community and apprehended the suspect without incident.

Shupe is also facing charges of assault and uttering threats in relation to a separate incident.
