Low-income earners could be paying $21 dollars more a month for natural gas.
Saskatchewan’s rate review panel has issued its rate-hike recommendation to Sask-Energy.
Chairwoman Alison Renney says they are recommending the price for gas go from $6.57per giga-joule to $ 8.71, which is still less than what Sask-Energy initially proposed.
Among other things the panel wants to see reviews done on a quarterly basis instead of an annual one.
Renney says it’s unclear how a price-hike would affect northern Saskatchewan because there are different types of heating methods, but she notes prices are volatile everywhere.
