Residents Calling For Vote On Little Pine

The Little Pine First Nation may hold elections a year ahead of schedule if some residents have their way.

On October 22nd, the group plans to hold a meeting to discuss holding elections for chief and council on November 28th.

That’s about a year ahead of schedule.

Spokesman Alex Kennedy says early elections are needed because the council isn’t following the band’s constitution.

But councillor Clifford Bear says if the group does call for an early election they could end up in court, adding that he would first have to discuss the idea with his fellow councillors first.
