Residential School Victim Unhappy With Media

A residential school survivor from Janvier, Alberta is taking issue with media reports about the compensation payments that will soon be flowing to former students.
Bertha Moir is upset that many outlets are focusing on some negative things that survivors might do with their money.
Moir says media outlets are forgetting that most survivors are well-advanced in years and can make mature decisions.
She says it’s almost as if the media is hoping residential school survivors make unhealthy choices with their compensation money.
Moir is worried some survivors might be affected by the media coverage, and may make poor choices as a result of it.
She also doesn’t appreciate hearing financial institutions tell survivors what to do with their money.
