Residential School Payment Appeal Process Underway

The federal government says it is now processing applications for the Common Experience Payment Reconsideration Process.

Indian Residential Schools Resolution Canada says all CEP applicants who have not already applied will soon be receiving a letter explaining how the process works.

The government says the review will “ensure that the original decision for each applicant is accurate and appropriate”.

Thousands of residential school survivors have complained that not only have their claims been denied — but that poor record-keeping by the government is to blame.

According to a government release, applicants do not need to find their records or provide additional information in order to have their file reconsidered.
