Indian Affairs Minister Jim Prentice has some reading to do over the next few days.

Yesteray, an interim report on how to improve drinking water on reserves was sent to his department by an expert panel.

None of the recommendations outlined in the report will be released to the public just yet.

However, during this summer’s public meetings, some panel members said they heard many requests from band workers that clearer regulations and benchmarks on how to ensure safe drinking water were required.

Band leaders also want to know where funding for new regulations will come from.

A secretary with the panel says a final report will come out in the fall.
