Renowned Land Claims Expert Dies

A leading authority on First Nations land claims has died.

 

Stewart Raby passed away last Saturday.

 

He was instrumental in resolving many claims throughout Saskatchewan.

 

The Oxford graduate started his career in Ottawa as a senior researcher for the 1969 Barber Commission inquiry.

 

Raby earned a staff position with the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations in the 1980s, becoming the head researcher on land claims in the province.

 

Raby was 69 years old at the time of his death.
