A Prince Albert-based Bible school with a large Aboriginal student body has just received some good news.
The provincial government recently granted the CHAKAM School of the Bible private vocational school status.
School president Dr. John Fryters says students who are currently forced to pay their own way should be able to apply for student loans within the next 18 months.
Fryters says it also clears the way for the school to offer classes by correspondence for students in remote northern communities.
He estimates First Nations and Metis people currently make up between 40 and 50 per cent of the college’s enrolment.
