The opening session of what’s being called a First Nations language speaking group takes place tonight at the Albert Library in Regina.

Speakers from the Cree, Dene, and Saulteaux communities will all be in attendance.

Coordinator Cathy Wheaton says the language circles will focus on getting learners to speak as much as possible, and won’t focus on writing.

Wheaton says she is also trying to get other languages included, such as Dakota and Nakota.

The volunteer-based program is free and runs from now until June.

Tonight’s session begins at 6:30 and is open to anyone.
