Regina Set To Host Annual First Nations Awards

Outstanding First Nations people will be recognized for their achievements at the 13th Annual First Nations Awards this evening in Regina.

Women of the Dawn president Ivy Kennedy says she started the awards because she wanted young people to have adults to look up to.

There are 13 categories for awards — including arts and entertainment, business, sports and recreation, and justice.

There is also a youth award, for which the winner receives a $3,000 bursary towards education.

Kennedy says there are many success stories from First Nations people and their communities.
