The minister of community resources for the province announced Wednesday that the RCMP are launching a criminal investigation into the Metis Addictions Council of Saskatchewan.

Joanne Crawford says a forensic audit of the group, recently launched by the department of health, turned up several questionable financial decisions.

She says several questions need to be answered before the government feels totally comfortable with the direction the organization is headed in.

Crawford adds instituting stronger accounting practises and polices are just the beginning of what needs to happen.

She says public confidence will only grow once consistency in all aspects of the group’s performance materializes.
