The death of a man from Pinehouse has sparked a police investigation.

RCMP spokesman Sgt. Brad Kaeding says officers in the community responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a home on December 29th at around 9 p.m.

When they got there, they discovered a 40-year-old man in need of medical attention.

Kaeding says the man was taken to hospital and eventually released into the care of family members.

Hours later, the Mounties received another complaint and went to the residence again.

This time, they arrested the same man and took him into custody.

Kaeding says the man was once again taken to a hospital, where he died yesterday morning.

An autopsy will be performed this week.

Kaeding says a full investigation is underway, with the help of the RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit out of Saskatoon.

As well, the Department of Justice has appointed an independent observer from the Saskatoon Police Service to monitor the investigation.

The name of the man has not been officially released, but family members have identified him as Victor John Lariviere.
