The Mounties in Stony Rapids and Black Lake are looking to put the brakes on a large number of recent break-ins.

Constable Tyler Hadland says local residents are being asked to write down the serial numbers of home appliances and other important items in case they’re stolen.

He explains that once the RCMP has that information in its computers, tracing the stolen material is made much simpler.

He adds the problem of theft in the area appears to be fueled by addictions.
