A health official says crystal meth is rapidly becoming popular in La Ronge.

That’s why addictions counsellor Nadine Reiter is organizing a community meeting to inform members of the public about this drug.

Reiter says the emergence of crystal meth in La Ronge is a relatively recent development. She points out its use amongst young people in La Ronge has skyrocketed in the last 6 months — as evidenced by the amount of youth seeking treatment at the local detox centre.

Reiter says crystal meth is a very addictive and potentially deadly drug that is often linked with violent crime.

The public information session will take place on Wednesday, March 31st in Room 2709 of the La Ronge Health Centre. Everyone is welcome to attend.
