The President of the First Nations University of Canada says he was honoured the Queen and Prince Philip made the school their first stop of their nine-day tour of Saskatchewan and Alberta.

Dr. Eber Hampton sat between the royal couple during a brief ceremony yesterday to pay tribute to Aboriginal war veterans.

MBC correspondent from the First Nations University of Canada, Gord Petruic says the Queen and Prince presented a plaque to the veterans as a commemorative of the Treaties signed.

The Veterans welcomed the Queen, but said they felt a bit like they were being put on display without being given a meaningful role.

The Queen will also unveil a Saskatchewan Centennial Mural designed by a northern Métis artist today.

The province and the Saskatchewan Arts Board will unveil the mural designed and painted by Air Ronge resident Roger Jerome.

Jerome has been a life long painter and because of his strong ties to northern Saskatchewan, he leans towards portraying northern landscapes, scenes, and traditions.

The mural is titled, Northern Tradition and Transition, and it is meant to represent the story and beauty of Northern Saskatchewan, as well as the cultures, traditions, and diversity of Saskatchewan people.
