A government official says special consideration is being paid to the review of a shooting which claimed the life of an Aboriginal woman.

Laur’lei Silzer with Saskatchewan Justice says the deputy minister is currently looking over the report, which was compiled by a Saskatoon police officer.

Inspector Jeff Bent spent several months going over the Prince Albert Police Service’s investigation into the death of Jackie Montgrand.

The 44-year-old woman died in March of last year after being shot by an officer in the West Flat area.

Silzer says they are looking to see if there’s any similarities between this particular shooting and any other ones involving police in the past few years.

She says the file will then be passed onto the coroner, who is expected to call an inquest into the matter.
