Families in the northern communities of La Ronge, Air Ronge, Denare Beach and Creighton are getting some help with housing.

The provincial government has announced it is increasing the number of families who will qualify for its housing programs.

Previously, families who made over $44,500 were unable to qualify for assistance.

However, that income limit has now jumped to $52,000 — meaning more families will qualify for the program.

Meantime, the government is also ready to provide one-time financial assistance to low- and moderate-income households.

For new construction, assistance will be in the form of a forgivable loan of up to $96,000 per unit.
