A director with the Prince Albert Parkland Regional Health Authority admits it’s disappointing to hear Birch Hills does want the Prince Albert Grand Council’s proposed youth addictions facility.

Town residents voted against the idea in a binding referendum held this past Monday.

However, Brett Enns says the news won’t sway his and other stakeholders’ determination to see the detox centre built eventually.

So far, both Birch Hills and the Rural Municipality of Buckland have rejected the idea.

Enns says he still hopes to find a rural location to build the centre, because he believes that would be an ideal environment.

He adds the health region plans to hold a consultation meeting with the PAGC and the provincial government in the near future to plan their next steps.
