Production Resumes At Rabbit Lake Uranium Mine

Mining activities have resumed at the Rabbit Lake uranium operation in northern Saskatchewan — much earlier than expected.
Production was halted in late November after the Eagle Point underground mine experienced some flooding.
An old exploration drill hole turned out to be the source of the flooding.
Cameco says site crews plugged the hole by installing an inflatable packer in it.
In the next couple of weeks, the company plans to install a permanent plug and grout a substantial length of the drill hole with cement to replace the inflatable packer.
Shortly after the flooding began, Cameco officials estimated it would take about a week to resume operations.
However, in December, the company revised that estimate by saying the situation would be addressed sometime during the first three months of 2008.
