A spokesman for the RCMP says an investigation into the death of a First Nations elder has wrapped up.

It was during the August 26th weekend that 78-year-old Victor “Boss” Daniels died after falling down a set of hotel stairs in North Battleford.

The former Korea war vet was reportedly trying to enter the wrong hotel door when officers arrived to investigate a noise complaint.

It was then that the RCMP say Daniels fell down a set of stairs while he was leaving.

Sgt. Brad Kaeding says an independent report of the incident has been completed by a Saskatoon police officer who was assigned to look the matter.

That report is now being reviewed by authorities in Saskatoon.

Daniels was the southern president of the Saskatchewan First Nations Veterans’ Association at the time of his death.
