Saskatchewan’s privacy and information commissioner admits First Nations people don’t have as much recourse as others regarding suspected leaks of their personal information.
Gary Dickson is in La Ronge this week as part of a public education campaign about the work of his office.
Dickson says there are privacy and information issues that he can look into for people living on reserves.
However, he says there are some holes between federal and provincial jurisdiction, especially when First Nations citizens believe their health information has been improperly shared.
Dickson says his office typically gets involved when people have trouble obtaining their health or education records, or documents from government agencies.
