Prisoner Flees Stony Rapids Courthouse

RCMP are on the lookout for an escaped prisoner in Saskatchewan’s Far North.

The Mounties say 25-year-old Rexy Jonas Donard fled the Stony Rapids courthouse at around 11:30 yesterday morning.

Donard was secured with belly chains and handcuffs, but not leg shackles.

He had been speaking to his lawyer just prior to bolting out the back door of the building.

An extensive search of the area turned up nothing.

It’s believed Donard may have headed back to his home community of Black Lake.

The community has been alerted about his potential presence. It’s not clear if Donard is considered dangerous.

Donard is 5′ 7″ tall, has short dark hair and was last seen wearing a grey T-shirt, blue jeans and running shoes.

Anyone who knows his whereabouts should call their nearest police detachment.
