There is a manhunt underway for a man who escaped custody from the Ile-a-la-Crosse RCMP holding cell last night.
The local Mounties say Aaron Gardiner managed to escape from the cellblock area at about 8:15 last night.
Gardiner was scheduled to make an appearance in a Buffalo Narrows courtroom on several drug-related charges.
According to the RCMP, he’s also facing a number of outstanding charges including resisting arrest, assaulting a peace officer, uttering threats, dangerous driving — and now — escaping lawful custody.
The Mounties believe he’s still in Ile-a-la-Crosse or attempting to head to Edmonton.
Gardiner is of Metis ancestry, is 6-feet-1-inch tall, weighs 190 pounds, and has short brown hair, hazel eyes and a fair complexion.
Anyone who has seen Gardiner or knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact the Ile-a-la-Crosse RCMP at 833-6300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
